When I think about God, I also think about light. God and light are synonymous in my mind. But in thinking about light my eyes actually blind me to the vastness of this physical entity and its spiritual companion. The light I am able to see is limited to the visible spectrum. Far greater in quantity, energy, range, and power is the invisible light that is hidden from my eyes. And beyond the invisible lies the spiritual realm of light in the form of divine illumination such as: insight, wisdom, indwelling, infusion, inspiration.
Therefore, the God I worship is not only the God of the physical realm of light – the God of all Creation – but also the God of the spiritual realm of divine illumination! It is both humbling and exhilarating to know that I, as a physical creature born of light, am able to relate to the God of illumination through insight, wisdom, indwelling, infusion, and inspiration. Better yet, it is humbling and exhilarating to know that God wants to relate to me via the same channel of spiritual energy.
It has been said that each of us has a spark of the divine within us … that we emit an aura of unseen energy, invisible to us, yet experienced by others who come into our presence. To me, that unseen energy is our spiritual light! And the Creator/Sustainer of that energy is the God I have come to know.
